Air bed review - the end of sofa beds?

Hi everyone,

I recently had a good opportunity to try installing an airbed in one of my properties. As Vacation rental and homestay owners, we always run short of space for our guests and I personally feel that sound sleep is an important part of guests relaxing on the weekend. I have been hearing of Airbeds for some time now (made famous also by airbnb) - and I  thought I would invest in one for one of my properties.

Firstly, the options: Air beds are readily available from Amazon.com or else from Walmart or Costco  - the three primary models are Aerobed, Intex, Coleman and Whoosh. I felt it was best to invest in one of the more expensive ones and in a size that would comfortably sleep a couple in my spare room. It came with a built in air pump and I also invested in a foam upper to add to the comfort of guests.

The low down: While I was afraid of a range of things, I have no hesitation in recommending airbeds. I spent two nights on the bed trying it out and it was very comfortable and will ensure that your guests don't complain of a bad back or of not being relaxed when they wake up. I also took some photographs of me making the bed and will show you how below.

First, find a nice location with a power point - you will need this to plug in the automatic pump that will inflate the bed.

The bed comes nicely packed - my queen sized very luxurious bed deflated to where I could keep it like a towel in one of my closets -  a much heavier towel though!!
