For foreign nationals who have reached the age 55 years and their countries are included in the 55 countries obtaining retirement visa facility from the government of Indonesia, they can use the Retirement Visa to stay in the country for 1 year and can subsequently obtain the KITAS card from the immigration office.
This retirement visa may be extended every year for 6 consecutive years and afterwards they can obtain permanent staying visa for KITAP applicable for 5 years and may be extended every 5 years. Once the foreign national stays in Indonesia on a retirement visa for a substantial period of time, he can then apply for nationality as Indonesian citizen if he so desires.
The Retirement Visa is given by the government of Indonesia with the objective to provide easiness and conveniences for foreigners who desire to live and enjoy their retirement time in Indonesia. This Retirement Visa is only for those who no longer is working or running any business in Indonesia. In a nutshell, the Indonesia Retirement Visa holder is not allowed to do any business activities or working formally.
If your application for a Retirement Visa is approved, you will be allowed to come to Indonesia initially for one year and your visa can be extended every year to a total of 5 years. Then you can apply for a permanent stay permit (KITAP).
After you are issued a Retirement Visa, if you need to go out of Indonesia from time to time, then you should check that the availability of your KITAS (Limited Stay Permit Card) is still valid for applying the following Exit/ Re-entry Permits:
- Exit re-entry permit that is valid for 3 months
- Multiple exit re-entry permit that is valid for 6 months
Meanwhile if you do not want to extend your Retirement Visa after one year you must apply for an Exit Permit Only (EPO).
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A INDONESIA RETIREMENT VISA:
The Retirement Visa is issued to a foreign national who is over 55 years and is able to support oneself fully. To be eligible for an Indonesia Retirement Visa you must:
- Be 55 years or older
- Have no intention to work in Indonesia
- Be in good health and character.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
The following documents are required for your visa application to be processed:
- Copy of your passport and/ or travel documents which are valid for at least one year
- Proof of holding a pension or Deposit – Bank statement
- Health Insurance
- Life Insurance
- Curriculum Vitae/ Resume
- Any applicant whose spouse wishes to apply for a Limited Stay permit Visa for elderly tourists must provide a copy of their marriage certificate
- A personal Guarantee Letter, stating: To live in the provided and agreed accommodation in Indonesia (Bali in particular) with proof of receipt or through renting proof of rental agreement. The mentioned accommodation must be located at an authorized tourist area and in accordance with the prevailing regulations.
- Employment Letter – Affidavit. You must employ at least one Indonesian citizen for assistance, such as nursing, housekeeping or any other kind of assistance during your stay in Indonesia. In that regard, you must submit a letter stating that you are currently employing or intend to employ an Indonesian assistant.
- Ten 4×6 sized, four 3×4 sized, and four 2×3 sized photographs with red background.
KITAP FOR SENIOR CITIZENS:
After extending the limited stay permit for five times (5 years), foreign retirees can apply for a permanent stay permit visa (KITAP) through a Senior Foreign Tourist Travel Bureau as a sponsor. The following documents are required to apply for KITAP:
- Application letter and guarantee from tourist travel bureau as a sponsor
- License (SIUP) and tax number (NPWP) of the travel bureau
- Appointment letter of travel bureau to handle the Foreign Senior Tourist
- Curriculum vitae/ Resume
- Original and copy of valid passport
- Four photographs of 2×3 cm size
- Statement of accounts, issued by Pension Fund Institution or bank declaring funds of not less than US$1,500/month are available to finance his/her stay in Indonesia
- Statement/evidence verifying actual stay at available accommodation facilities through the purchase or rental at minimum specified rates
- Statement to declare employment of Indonesian maid-servant during his/her stay in Indonesia
- The most recent, still valid, limited stay permit visa.
