Indonesia retirement visaFor foreign nationals who have reached the age 55 years and their countries are included in the 55 countries obtaining retirement visa facility from the government of Indonesia, they can use the Retirement Visa to stay in the country for 1 year and can subsequently obtain the KITAS card from the immigration office.

This retirement visa may be extended every year for 6 consecutive years and afterwards they can obtain permanent staying visa for KITAP applicable for 5 years and may be extended every 5 years. Once the foreign national stays in Indonesia on a retirement visa for a substantial period of time, he can then apply for nationality as Indonesian citizen if he so desires.

The Retirement Visa is given by the government of Indonesia with the objective to provide easiness and conveniences for foreigners who desire to live and enjoy their retirement time in Indonesia. This Retirement Visa is only for those who no longer is working or running any business in Indonesia. If your application for a Retirement Visa is approved, you will be allowed to come to Indonesia initially for one year and your visa can be extended every year to a total of 5 years. Then you can apply for a permanent stay permit (KITAP).

After you are issued a Retirement Visa, if you need to go out of Indonesia from time to time, then you should check that the availability of your KITAS (Limited Stay Permit Card) is still valid for applying the following Exit/ Re-entry Permits:

  • Exit re-entry permit that is valid for 3 months

Meanwhile if you do not want to extend your Retirement Visa after one year you must apply for an Exit Permit Only (EPO).
